Is the Apostolic Orthodox Church part of the Moscow Patriarchate?

No. It is an independent Orthodox Christian church and is not under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Is its canonical status recognised by every Orthodox church?

No. Institutional recognition and canonical communion differ across Orthodox jurisdictions. This site does not present disputed recognition as universal.

Why “apostolic”?

The name expresses commitment to the faith handed down from the apostles, apostolic ministry and the Church’s sacramental life. It is also the historical name adopted in 2000.

Can a community seek affiliation?

Yes, but affiliation should begin through documented contact and ecclesial discernment. Use the central public office above rather than relying on informal online claims.
