Today the Apostolic Orthodox Church is an association of Orthodox communities of the apostolic tradition, bound together by a common confession of faith, participation in the Sacraments and the principles of conciliar church life.
The AOC does not define itself as a national Church belonging exclusively to a single people or state.
Its communities exist in many countries, uniting Christians of different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
The essential foundations of church life remain faithfulness to Orthodox teaching, the preservation of apostolic succession, freedom of conscience, conciliarity, the independence of communities and Christian responsibility towards one’s neighbour.
The Apostolic Orthodox Church sees its ministry as the continuation of the centuries-old tradition of the Christian faith, addressed to every person regardless of origin, social standing or state borders.
Founded as an independent church organisation in 2000, the AOC sees its historical task not in creating a new doctrine but in preserving and developing Orthodox Christianity in keeping with the principles of the Gospel.
Its path is bound up with the search for a balance between faithfulness to Tradition and the need to answer the questions of the modern world.
At the heart of this path remains the conviction that the Church exists to bear witness to Christ, to unite people in faith and love, for the spiritual transfiguration of the human person and for active service to one’s neighbour.
